This has been one of my favorite projects because
of my love to travel and the complexity of the design. The site provides
travel information from a database backend. It is the prototype for a
global network of travel sites called Vivid Travel Network (VTN).
This second image is an example of a directory page
with all filters open. Users are able to browse or search and apply filters
based on "Who", "Where",
and "When". Who filters are represented by icons that appear
next to each listing.
The directory section of the site was complimented by the editorial sections
seen in the next image.
Editorial pages favor timely information, however
an Archive is always present. Users are encouraged to navigate by their
level of sophistication by reading Overviews. All editorial pages provide
context-sensitive links to the Directory and Community section which
facilitates navigating by topic.
All pages use signposting and breadcrumb trails to orient the user within the
structure of the site.Sections are also color coded to provide an additional
visual cue for site sections.
Since content source is a big issue for site credibility. The site provides visual
cues to distingish editorial content from user-provided content. The next image
shows a user-provided review for the Diversions section.
